What could be better than a grass block? Maybe a little square companion to keep you company, or a vibrant cherry blossom forest filled with bright pink trees? Or how about soaring through the sky with an Elytra on your back (just watch where you're going!)? Perhaps diving deep into a mine to uncover rare diamond ore? Or maybe something even more? These are just a few of the countless experiences you can enjoy in Minecraft, the iconic 2010 sandbox game where everything is made up of cubes. Beyond just creating a simple animated logo, my goal was to craft an animation that captures the essence of the many adventures and experiences players can expect when diving into the world of Minecraft.
Animation Short Film
I used Illustrator to create most of the imagery for the animation, then brought each figure and shape to life in After Effects, adding sound effects to enhance the experience. The animation above was initially designed as the original animated logo. However, due to its length, I decided to create a shorter version for the logo and kept the original as a separate short film reel.
Minecraft typically offers four core experiences: exploring, crafting, mining, and building. The game's primary goal is for players to learn how to survive off the land using only available resources while gaining enough strength to venture into the expansive world. Despite numerous updates and additions since its release in the 2010s, the game's core premise remains unchanged.
Minecraft holds a special place in my childhood, as I spent countless hours honing my skills and immersing myself in its world. With its engaging world-building and fun graphics, I was always fully invested in the game, never once feeling bored.
